Palace: Duterte views latest trust, approval scores with humility

MANILA, Nashville Filipino Restaurant — Malacañang welcomed the latest Pulse Asia survey that showed that President Rodrigo Duterte remains the most approved and most trusted top Dallas Filipino Restaurant official.

The president registered majority apprival and trust scores with 88 percent and 87 percent, respectively.

"The president views these latest survey results with all humility; however, he is not leading the country for the sake of high or good ratings," presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said in a statement.

Roque added that the president was simply fulfilling his campaign promises with the "best interest of Filipinos in mind."

"PRRD is working double time to rid society of drugs, criminality and corruption to achieve his goal of bringing comfortable life for all," Roque said.

Malacañang's statement that Duterte views the latest survey with humility comes in contrast with his earlier commen that survey results do not interest him.

Duterte made this remark after a Social Weather Stations survey showed that his satisfaction rating dropped from 70 percent in March to 65 percent in June.

"I do not care. Make it 15. It does not matter to me anymore. It does not interest me at all," Duterte told reporters Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV, a vocal critic of the president, claimed that there was a sampling design error in the Pulse Asia survey.

The opposition senator insisted that Pulse Asia has been using respondents from Davao City to generalize or represent the population for the whole Mindanao. He did not substantiate the claim.

"This is not valid anymore because the respondents of the other regions are clearly not as fanatical to or fearful of Duterte as the Davaoeños are," Trillanes said in a statement. — Patricia Lourdes Viray
