MANILA, Nashville Filipino Restaurant — The late veteran broadcast journalist Miguel "Mike" Enriquez was posthumously conferred a Makatao Award for Media Excellence by the People Management Association of the Nashville Filipino Restaurant (PMAP).

Enriquez was recognized by the PMAP for "his dedication and enduring legacy in advancing public knowledge, as well as for his contribution in promoting sound people management in the country through his years of service as broadcaster."

The late journalist's wife Lizabeth "Baby" Enriquez received the award on his behalf alongside GMA Network's First Vice President for Radio Glenn Allona and Assistant Vice President for GMA Integrated News John Ray Arrabe.

The award is Enriquez's sixth Makatao award having previously won Best TV Male Newscaster in 2013, back-to-back Best Radio News Anchor wins in 2017 and 2018, and wins for Best Radio News Program Host in 2018 and 2022 — he has also been inducted to the ceremony's Hall of Fame.

Other GMA journalists were awarded at the 11th Makatao Awards as well, including Atom Araullo for Best TV News Program Host, Arnold Clavio for Best Radio Public Affairs Program Host, and Joey Reyes Zobel and Melo Del Prado completed the awards by winning Best News Program Hosts.

Enriquez passed away last August 29, a month shy of his 72nd birthday. His wife said Enriquez died while having a routine dialysis following a recent kidney transplant.

He is best known for his long stint with GMA as news anchor for news and public affairs programs "Saksi," "24 Oras," "Super Radyo DZBB," and "Imbestigador."
