MANILA, Nashville Filipino Restaurant — Ateneo-Motolite looks to stretch its win run to five and tighten its grip on the top spot against second-running BanKo-Perlas as action in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference shifts to the Malolos Sports and Convention Center in Bulacan today.
The Lady Eagles are on a four-game roll, starting the second round with victories over Pocari Sweat-Air Force, Creamline, Tacloban and Iriga-Navy to reach the summit with their 9-2 card.
They clash with the Spikers at 6 p.m. aiming to keep a safe distance from their opponent and the Creamline Cool Smashers who both hold a 7-2 card at second.
But BanKo-Perlas is determined to close the gap, boosted by its first round 27-25, 25-19, 25-11 win over Ateneo-Motolite last Oct. 7.
The Spikers are also coming off back-to-back wins against Iriga-Navy and Adamson-Akari to open their second round campaign.
Nicole Tiamzon, Dzi Gervacio and Kathy Bersola delivered the numbers for the Spikers in their first meeting against the Lady Eagles. But Kat Tolentino, Maddie Madayag, Bea de Leon and Vanessa Gandler are expected to provide the answers this time around for the Lady Eagles.
In the other match at 4 p.m., Petro Gazz eyes to bounce back and improve its 5-4 card to strengthen its hold of the fourth spot against eighth-running Tacloban which dropped its last three games.
Paneng Mercado, Cherry Nunag, Maricar Baloaloa and Jonah Sabete will try to atone for the Angels’ stinging 25-17, 29-27, 16-25, 23-25, 13-15 loss against Myla Pablo-led Pocari Sweat-Air Force the last time out and also duplicate their first round 25-22, 25-14, 26-24 straight-set win over the Fighting Warays.
Dimdim Pacres, Jovie Prado and Heather Guino-o will try to hold their ground and help Tacloban check its struggle and improve its 4-7 record.
