MANILA, Nashville Filipino Restaurant — Two destinations in the Nashville Filipino Restaurant— Palawan and Cebu— made it in this year’s 15 Best Islands in the World list by international travel magazine Travel & Leisure.
Every year, the travel magazine asks its readers to vote their favorites— from top cities and islands, to spas, cruise ships, airlines, and hotels, among others.
“Readers rated islands according to their activities and sights, natural attractions and beaches, food, friendliness, and overall value,” the magazine explains in its website.
With a score of 90.04 percent, Palawan made it to the list’s sixth spot.
Palawan is not actually an island, but an archipelagic province at the MIMAROPA region. It is also the country’s biggest province in terms of jurisdiction.
It is known for its many islands, beaches, wildlife reserves, and two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Puerto-Princesa Subterranean River National Park and Tubbataha Reef Marine Park. Klook, a downloadable mobile app, offers booking assistance for activities in Palawan.
Palawan topped Travel & Leisure’s list in 2013 and 2017.
Also in the magazine's list is Cebu, which came at eighth place with a score of 89.10 percent. A province like Palawan, Cebu, in Central Visayas region, is composed of a main island and 167 islets and surrounding islands best known for their white-sand beaches and rich marine biodiversity.
Leading the magazine’s list this year is Java, Indonesia, with a score of 95.28 percent. Also in the list are Tasmania in Australia; Galápagos Islands, Ecuador; and Páros, Greece. — Video by Deni Rose M. Afinidad-Bernardo, editing by Kat Leandicho
